Is the EPU a battery operated one?

I have had both, on a hot southwest night, you won’t have to start the truck cause the batteries died, you already have 4 batts to run the truck, then another 4 to run the EPU. With the APU, I burn 1 gal per 10, charging the epu, 1 gal per hour for the truck, with the EPA equipment, you could cause problems on a 34 away from home.

    Or 3rd option,.. Generator.

    Why? -
    More affordable to install.
    More affordable to replace.
Much much quieter than an APU.
More reliable than an APU or EPU. Over 9400 100% reliable hours (Almost 5 yrs old) currently on my first Honda EU3000is. I have a 2nd in my KW that is less than a yr old and equally as reliable.
Cheaper to replace generator than to repair APU.
Easier to service and for the mechanically inept,.. there are thousands of RV service centers and cycle shops that can vs the limited available and often appts needed for APU.
The functionality and options are virtually limitless in its usefulness.

Downside,.. filling the gas cans in bad weather when parked on the far side of a truck stop.

Hurst, is that orange Romex going into that outlet box?

To the OP, I would get an APU, shop around. I had EPUs and some other hack jobs in my trucks but when it came to repairs, the APU was still the best bargain.

Now this does not mean a generator and an a/c unit is also a way to go, generator reliability has improved but I don't know how many crap out (even hondas) and repairs are more than the replacement costs.

Yes,.. comes from the 30 AMP outlet on the generator. Powers everything I need.

As for reliability,.. 100%. 9400 hrs. Havent changed the spark plug in 2 yrs. Hasnt seen an oil change in 8 months. Battery went dead a while back. Has a pull start if needed. Easy to replace and didnt break the bank.
