Yeah, of course. My point was that neither Oregon nor Washington can limit to the weights the comment I was responding to said on STAA highways. If the components allow over 15,000 lbs, they can't limit to 14,600 in Oregon nor 13,900 in Washington on STAA highways.

Oregon has their own bridge chart if you’re running extended weight permits. We could bridge 105k on 8 axles in the NW except in OR. Their bridge chart cut us back to 102k gross.

Here is the main issue when it comes to the Federal APU exemption. Last I heard, it was 550 Lbs. As mentioned, some states don't recognize it. I DO NOT WANT anybody taking my word for it. Next time you are in such a state, take the time to ask the weighmaster what their tolerances are. These tolerances MIGHT SHOCK YOU!

I want to add one more point on this subject. Here is an example. Say you are overweight ONLY on your drives by 400Lbs. In most states, as long as you are within a respectable amount on the gross weight, you might well be waved on past the scale. If you stay within the tolorances the weighmasters will leave you alone. If, however, you get stopped and cited, they are going to ticket you on EVERY Lb you are over the official limit. This is why you hear so many drivers say the scales don't allow a tolerance.

I will never understand why a driver will believe a truck stop attorney know it all over a simple stop and ask a weighmaster about this subject.
