When your paying for the fuel, maintaince yeah it will add up in a year..
If you were given 1 cent a day double it every day for a year its not much now but at years end it will tear a hell of a hole in your pocket tryin to carry it.....

Depends. We have the Lytx camera system that runs constantly (can identify in case of hit and run on an unoccupied truck) as well as the Omnitracs satellite tracking. Both of those are linked directly to the battery and not through the switch. Even with fresh batteries on 2022 trucks, they will be dead within 3-4 days withy the battery switch off and without the APU on standby, and they won't have enough juice to start the trucks in cold weather after about 36 hours. We instruct all drivers to leave the APU on standby with the battery switch off when at home, and to leave the APU's heater on low when it is forecast to be below 0*.

I haven't had to worry about fuel and maintenance or even a truck payment since the year 2000. I would still run it as needed to keep the batteries charged and truck warm in the winter. Not looking for anyone's approval stating how I would handle it. I see your point though.

If that's the concern then ask the company. I imagine most would prefer you leave it off.

Yeap run it if its really cold or hot i totally agree..Home for a few days, shuter down and go home is basically my point...
The way i see it is at some point you wanna go for a favor/raise ect the company could be running tight or the apu breaks down on the road when you need it vs home and not needed....It always falls back on the driver.....
