Lol
I never had an apu but sometimes I wood leave my engine idleing just to mask the noise of all the other trucks coming and going.
the Apu isn’t that bad but the guy with the back up beeper should have rotten eggs thrown at him.
I have had trucks with a back up beeper and I always either unplugged it or put three layers of black gaffers tape over it so you couldn’t hear it unless you were right next to it

I’m listening to the drone of some ####### idling right now. No idea why this POS has such a loud low deep drone, but it’s annoying. Probably some Pete with straight pipes or some BS. I haven’t been out to look yet.
I’ll take an APU over that any day. And reefers are FAR worse than anything. How you reefer people sleep with that I have no idea. And why are Miami reefers the loudest of them all? Are you Cubans doing something to your reefers or are you just buying old POS reefers?
What I don’t understand right now is why this POS is even idling when the weather outside is delightful. Turn the truck off! NOBODY else is idling!
Also I am sick of the APU exhaust BS. Weed burner exhausts nobody complains about. I’d rather have an APU shooting exhaust under my truck than an idling truck next to me. I’ve had a carbon monoxide detector in my trucks for over 20 years and have parked next to many APUs, engines and reefers and it’s never gone off. You’ll be fine. Get over it. The one time it did go off was on a dead calm day at a receiver I was running a generator on my catwalk doing the “I am too cheap to invest in a proper APU” thing and it went off. If I didn’t have it I might be dead from my own generators exhaust who knows. So buy one. They’re $20. Stop being cheap.

As said before.....I will take the idling Pete, reefer or APU over and idling truck with an air leak making the compressor relief valve sound every five minutes. rumble...rumble....rumble PSSHHHHHHT... rumble...rumble....rumble..... PSSHHHHHT.
RockinChair, Snailexpress and BeHereNow97 Thank this. -
I had an idling international parked next to me at the TA last night, his engine fan would kick on and just drown all the noise out. it even made it into my dream at one point.
