I am now the proud owner of a 378 pete that is so close to be able to run, just needs a couple fixes here and there and an inframe.

To lower the price the guy I got it off of agreed to keep the drive shaft and fuel tank for a project he's working on

I'm looking to get bigger fuel tanks anyways and know a place to get em. Cheap (neighbors road rig caught fire and he's parting them out cheap)

    However it's a 379. Would a fuel tank from a 379 fit a 378

    They’re virtually the same truck
The 379 has a longer aluminum hood the 378 was shorter and fiberglass
But virtually the same truck from windshield back and used same basic undercarriage

If it’s a different diameter, take the straps and mounting brackets with it.

26” diameter is the standard size for 9out of 10 conventional Petes. Other dia’s were optional. Cabovers used 28” and 30”. Lengths in the 26” tanks vary with capacities but they used the same mounts, and straps.
