If a guy stays close to home doing short runs, it would be fairly easy to eliminate brokers, if a guy does long hauls, it would be tougher, for sure. The way I ran it would have been practily impossible. I could get direct loads when leaving home easy enough, but I did not do short runs and went all over the country, so I needed brokers. I would also sit waiting for a broker load that pays what I wanted to run or bounce to where there was freight that paid what I wanted. In some areas I would sit and put together an ltl load at times.

some shippers dont like to work with carriers and want to deal with big costumers , some brokers can call you first for a load before posting it on the loadboard. if you are doing local and short run maybe it would , but not OTR
