Yes . Thats what the safety people say. You need to plan your trip. I can plan, but I can't predict the future. Traffic , wrecks, snow, breakdowns, delays at docks. On paper logs you deal with the situation and make it all nice and pretty on your log. With an eobr you get to listen to some idiot tell you that you should have planned better.
Before eobr's, there were plenty of inconsiderate drivers. With eobr's I think we will have more. More drivers playing beat the clock to make sure it looks good on a computer. Sad.
Are EOBR's creating a "new" new breed

So I guess you never got held up at a shipper or receiver or ran into bad weather or traffic that completely screwed up you plan?

Truckstops are for parking when a driver runs out of hours not to sit and lolly gag around for hours upon hours just because he/she feels like doing so. The point of my comment is there is NO PRELANNING that will help a driver since he can not predict how many lazy (lolly gaggers) are already taking up the parking while they are wasting space. I run my $$$ off till I can't run anymore and its a pain to find parking between the movie watchers or the McDonalds eaters that are taking up parking even though they just started their clock an hour ago. And I get my arguements from the darn lazy drivers as they will gladly gloat about the fact they are bored driving after a few hours so they park early to have something to do.

I deliver in Salt Lake tomorrow. I came into SLC at 6:30 this evening only to find the truckstops packed 110% full like it was 2am. Rather than risk a street parking citation (no parking at the customer), I ran out here to the TA at exit 99 on 80.
The Breeze and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
Get a decent job.

With everything on this thread being said and done, it could very well be that over the road trucking, (OTR), could end up becoming a thing of the past, slowly getting phased out, and being replaced with both railway carriers and local drivers who will do a lot of drop & hooks. The flip side of all this is that it could potentially put a lot of over the road, (OTR), drivers out of work. A lot of truck stops could also stand to suffer from this possible potential transition in the future.
As it stands now, the problems of the current over the road,(OTR), drivers seems to be getting worse, not better. What other way could these situations be solved?
The federal government could end up making the over the road, (OTR), companies public utility companies, just as they have done with the telephone, gas, & electric companies. Then even more heavy duty regulations will set in.
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.! -

Maybe that Yahoo that parked at 6 p.m. has a 6 a.m. delivery near the fuel stop the next morning and he left a couple of hours early to allow a couple of hours for delays .driverdriver Thanks this.

Anyone that blames the Elogs for bad parking and being a all around jerkoff is a idiot !!! They are piss poor excuses for drivers and would be just as bad on paper logs or even no logs . We have had a clock to run against since at least the 30s so it is not a excuse in my book for all the self centered jackwads out here these days.
Heres a news flash for ya ..... We have a log book to live by in trucking so learn to live with it or shut the F up and get out of the business . Enough whining and blaming everyone for your lack of skills to do your job !!ironpony, g.o.a.l, driverdriver and 1 other person Thank this. -
Now that I have crossed the 50 mark I unfortunately find myself saying all the stuff my parents generation said. I also don't think it's ebor related but the new generation of "gotta have it instantly"...... and the fact they all seem to be lazy....
Wow.. I am officially
old......;-(DE36535 Thanks this.
