It's unforeseen to the driver and the DM. Like I said: being delayed at a receiver is no big deal. Off duty drive if you run out of hours. Being delayed at a shipper really is no big deal either because you can work an 8-2 split in if you're delayed long enough.

If I had known all the truckstops were going to be packed, I would have stopped up on the mountain. I didn't think they would be jammed packed like that before 7.

I'm not familiar enough with the SLC area to know where you can and can't park. I haven't been here in 14 years.

Now if we talking about Phoenix or Dallas, I know where some hidden spots are.

    395.1 subpart B:

The extension does not work if:

    1) Used for normal rush hour
    2) Weather conditions were forecasted (as in you had advance warning)
    3) You waited until the last minute to park

Does NOT include delays loading or unloading . 11 hours driving may be extended only if the do not exceed the 14 hour limit .

Yes, this is true. If you get delayed at a shipper long enough, you can squeeze in a 8-2 split. Being delayed at a receiver isn't a big deal as you can off duty drive to park.

You have to know the game to play the game.

I never understood why the elog guys at Bio Papel in Prewitt, NM didn't do that. They would leave before their 14 was up and have to come back after 10 hrs to wait again. If allowed by the company, log off duty when your 14 is up, use line 5 to move around, unload, reload and move the 2 miles to the empty lot where everyone parks after loading. That's kind of how I handled it on paper. Geographically you're still in Prewitt so you didnt really move the load and if 10 hrs have passed between when your 14 is up and you wake up after a snooze, hammer down.

Wow--or Holy Wow--really cannot believe some of the responses here---but people being inconsiderate is NOT a new problem--and IMHO--has NOTHING to do with how you log--who you drive for or where you are from etc....it has to w/are you a decent human being or NOT--and every reason given for not being decent--is an EXCUSE.....I find it hard to believe that ANYONE truly does not know the difference between right/wrong fair/unfair etc.....it is just HOW that individual CHOOSES to BEHAVE!
Oh and as for E-Logs(not that I care)it is MY FIRM BELIEF--that it is a MOOT POINT--they are coming--just like the NEW HOS--weather you like it or not--just a matter of time-----and again--THEY WILL NOT make a row of beans difference--those folks that act right will still act right and thems that don't won't........

Technically you don't have to log squat if it's under 15 minutes. You can flag it and still be legal. This is really the only reason why I would hate an ELOG. Calling the companies log department on a daily basis to edit line 3 would get really old, really fast.
