Because if you can't make money running legally, then you should find a new sector of the industry to run freight for.

The fact that you seem to think any other method of RODS that isn't done on an ELD must mean the operator is running illegal shows how ignorant you really are.

Not your problem. Swift, Knight, Werner et al are proof that legal is not necessarily safe.

I figure with EVERY 99 and down truck that's for sale listed as exempt, with all the talk on social media etc of looking for an exempt truck they are gonna find a way to close the loop hole just a matter of time.

I understand your concern but ELDs will be hacked before you know it.

    Timin770 Thanks this.

I think that it would be pretty simple to install a few sensors on an engine that would provide engine hours, odometer readings, and the other information needed for a cpu to correlate the inputs and output the data stream to an eld, no ECM needed, just a few sensors and an electronic box to output to an eld. Just because an engine don't have an ECM is no reason an aftermarket system couldn't provide the output to drive an ELD.Just my opinion, some electronics company will come up with such a product for the "exempt" engines that don't have an ecm or probably already have.......

Sure and just because the truck doesn't have wings doesn't mean it can't be made to fly in the sky.
