Believe me I get it. Truck driving is a professional career and its important to elevate it to that level. That said, a friend argues that the DOT has a rule against wearing flops while driving. I could not find anything on the subject. Only if you get in an accident an officer may cite you, but no written rule.

I myself like to wear crocks and shorts on the days that I will not see customers.

Please comment on the legality of wearing slides?

    Thanks

For safety reasons, I won't wear them when driving, even in a car.
In an emergency, one could slip off when making a quick move to the brake pedal.

    There’s no regulation on footwear…however..

    • General Safety Laws: Law enforcement officers can issue citations for careless or reckless driving if improper footwear (like a flip-flop slipping off and getting stuck under a brake pedal) contributes to an accident.

No not illegal, but in poor taste and in many places if there is an insurance claim while wearing them, the company's insurance will fight paying anything if there is an accident outside the truck.

I always take my shoes off while driving. Wear whatever you like while driving. Just put on some boots or tennis shoes when you go into a shipper or receiver.

    #### things may not be illegal, but they should be. A truck is not a place to be dressed like some Wal-Mart shopper.
