Are Freight Brokers Necessary?

I got paid everything this company owed me. Some didn't, but most got it made up to them with extra pay on loads they hauled for them later.

I did have one professional con man get me with bad checks one time. I showed up, the place was empty, and about 100 other people were there with bad checks also. He owed everyone from truck and trailer rentals, phones, office furniture, mechanics, fuel, everything he did. He paid great to begin with until he earned everyones trust, then within three weeks he skipped out with millions of dollars.

The owner of the company, who was from another state was there. He had this guy running everything for him. He was really pissed, and said he got him for over 3 million dollars. He had his accountants going through the books, and couldn't find what happened to it.
