Got the 3.5" socket today and so tempted to open a side up and see what it looks like. I think I'm still going to hold off and see what the temps say after this short run.

Went to the Chevron website and the Chevron Delo #235253 doesn't even come up on their product list.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to get a few tubes of this and just re-pack the bearings? Considering she is retired and doesn't see much OTR or heavy hauling anymore. I think this would be adequate. Thoughts?

No. Either use the right product or just switch to oil. There’s a reason for all the specific specs and numbers. The stuff you need is very specific on its application. Heavy Duty Wheel ends. Like I said. It’s hard to find. Kind of like the truth. Lol. Apparently no one ever services them. Took the Penske Fleet Mechanics to get my info from. Penske has thousands of trailers in service. Good enough for me.

That was the next step when I had a spare minute. haha
But thankfully they sell smaller quantities. That 5 gallon bucket would probably leave my grandchildren wondering what it's for. haha
Agreed 100%. But I was looking at the Delo website and I was having a hard time finding anything that matches the description of what is actually needed.
The truck sees maybe 10k miles a year. Yup, she's living the easy life now. But that doesn't mean I want to hurt her with sub-par parts or lubricants either.

Great input guys! Google and Amazon is everyone's friend. Apparently Chevron discontinued this. Making the 5 gallon bucket look enticing. :)

Shell makes an equivalent. A supplier in Louisiana had to look it up. They’d never heard of it. Lol. Anyway the type is in the article. I like Shell regular automotive grease. I’ve got some that’s 30+ yrs old. It’s very hard to wash off your hands. Leaves a film. Sold me. Good luck finding it.

Con-Met sealed bearing hubs. You buy hub assembly when you need bearings. No adjustment. Torque to about 500 on cap, 700-850 on nut. They only last about 500k on a good day. From what I recall, they are expensive if you can locate them. And you must change spindle to convert back to oil.

Other words, hold on. They are non serviceable.

Still a meritor axle. And disregard the grease topic. It's sealed bearings. Your not repacking them. If they do leak, which is never replace. If they are loose replace immediately. They don't run loose long like a tappered roller bearing.

Holy smokes. I thought they were the same a a grease trailer hub. My question now is whether ir not I can convert my standard steer oil hubs to grease as planned.
