I love how you're supposed to enter more than enough personal information for someone to steal your entire identity into an unsecure webpage. Then when you point that out to the company they can't comprehend what you're saying. I've been using that as a measurement of the company. If the people there are that stupid I don't want to work for them anyway.

You can always FAX your resume to them. Aint a company in the US that doesn't have a fax number easily found via the internet. Follow that up with a phone call to their recruiting dept early morning the day after you sent in your app. Waiting a month and then wondering why they never contacted you aint gonna get you anywhere.

Why would a company waste their time looking through applications on line, when the phone is ringing off the hook with guys that actually want jobs?

They're not wasting any time because they're not looking though the online applications. At least no human being is looking through them. When you submit an online app it gets looked at by some software which determines whether you have the proper qualifications they're looking for and whether those qualifications are competitive enough (i.e. better than the next guy) to allow your application to pass through to the next step. If your app doesn't make it through this step, it gets deleted or at the very least it goes into a file that no one will ever bother to look at.

If you get through the first step, then you typically end up in the 'maybe' file. At this point, your app gets ranked against all of the other 'maybe' apps. At some point, someone will tell the software to show them the 10 highest ranking apps and those be looked at by an actual human who will then start making calls.

That means no one is wasting any time or effort telling those who aren't qualified or competitive enough that they don't have a chance. It allows a handful of people to weed through hundreds or even thousands of applications without having to read each one or spend time any talking any applicant who isn't obviously qualified.

Or, maybe a simple answer...do you have a steady work history? If not, that is probably why you are not getting any callbacks. There are Plenty of drivers with a steady work history that are looking for new opportunities and chances are they will get the call first.

Something must be wrong with your application or background checks or something.

I put out about 10 online apps and 5 companies contacted me.....within a few days.

Schneider - I'm at their orientation right now
Gordon - turned me down cause my school wasn't on their approved list
Haney - turned me down due to lack of experience
May - played phone tag then stopped calling them back
Central Refridgerated - intersted in me, but I liked Schneider better
