In my line of work, everything is on the driver. The load, appointments...everything. The thing is, you have desk jockeys that worked at doorslammer companies trying to apply the doorslammer playbook in the OSOW arena. They're trying to micromanage and beancount. It doesn't work.

They're trying to set my appointments. They're trying to be hands on by doing handholding sessions with drivers. How are they supposed to hold my hand when they cant even began to do my job? Heck, they can't even read the permits.

If your current company isnt micromanaging, consider yourself in green grass.

If you can't talk to current dtivers at another company stay put. You can't get the important info from online brochures. No company tells you it takes them 1-3 days to find you a load when you get empty. EVERY COMPANY HAS A NEW PAY PLAN. EVERY COMPANY.

You mean like you giving advice on oil field jobs in one of your posts? If you've actually worked the oil fields, then I apologize.
Try A&M Transport in Glendale,OR since they keep I-5 hot & busy. Don't know if they hire in your area or not, but worth a phone call.

Everytime I walk into the office the staff there are happy to see me. I love talking with them all and I mean every single one, they are incredible folks. They will do whatever it takes to keep me going whether it is a receiver taking too long, a problem with my truck, or even personal problems of my own. They really make my job enjoyable.

There are about thirty drivers total on my account, and a good portion of those absolutly hate these same people. They are miserable and refuse to even talk to some of the staff. They will relay any messages they have through others. They have the same old gripes about the staff that I have heard a thousand times on this website.

It is all about what you make of your company. If you cannot get along and work with what you got, it will likely be the same anywhere else you go.

Become a dispatcher yourself. Fight against the machine that's gone incompetant.

Then you will see where 100 drivers too stupid to do their adequate trip planning and get late.

Do you realize how many phone calls that generates?

Im not your enemy. I am in one of those moods tonight, some humor mixed in with some kind of Frankentrucking INC where nothing goes as planned.

One day I'll found a company and label it frankentrucking INC. What a bomb it is to haul for us. He he.

    Anyhow...

All companies have their share of village idiots. If you really want some fun, try a tire shop next to the company shop in which the mexican boys hired at rock bottom wages below minium dont even speak english, snarling the necessary large groups of numbers that they need to comprehendo in order to bolto onto your poor rig.. like a kid wearing size 9 on one foot and flopping a size 13 in the other.

Can't really trust other drivers anymore either though. Don't all these companies hand out big dollar referral bonuses.
