Looking in the mirror, I see a guy who fires up right at 10 and drives as close to 11 as possible..... I shot my own career in the foot by leasing....I can see that now. Too little too late. My question was, IF I am able to continue in this line of work, which if any carriers may be worth talking to.... I wont get into the story of why I got $1700 in the hole in a weeks time. But I will say not an ounce of it was due to any error, mistake or mismanagement on my part at all.

I have a lawyer going over the lease I signed. It says I can break it with no cause provided I give 14 days written notice, I have no hope that they arent going to destroy my DAC so... having said that. I give up.. I am definitely going to walk away. I cant and wont work for free....would you? Fool me once.....

You won't have any problems finding a good job as a company driver somewhere. Start putting in applications now and the reason is you're lookin for better pay and benefits; that's all you need to explain.

How much are you going to be on the hook for after you break the lease? I can't believe they won't tack on some type of obscene penalty.

no doubt, Ive heard drivers who left saying that they find reasons to keep all earnings after the notice and some even get a bill after the fact, but Ill let the lawyer deal with that.

Reminds me of my days with covenant transport.

I've been with maverick a few months now and I love it here. I've never been lied to, the pay is great, and they really treat their drivers and equipment well. I am really happy here.

Your giving good and bad advice: I'll explain, what your telling the OP is bad for him as a new driver. These smaller companies usually have a lot of internal problems, finances being one- maintenance issues- skirting the rules(ala logging)- bad DOT reports being another. On the good side, if the OP had about 2-3+ years under his belt and knows all there is to know about maintaining a truck and I do mean knowing it all (maintaining/improvising/1099 etc), then this could be good advice. Aim High!
