So let me start by saying I’m prepared to eat #### on this one but I want to hear from you guys particularly if it’s happened to you before
long story short picked up an old trailer at a drop and hook. All is well for about 1000 miles then I look in my mirror and one of my trailer tires blew. No catastrophic damage to my trailer or anyone else on the road . Just needed a new tire
Before people pounce… I pre trip every day and did not notice anything out of the ordinary with any tires. That being said…when I saw I got a message saying safety wanted to hear what happened I figured I was gonna be hit with a preventable
So I’m not looking to make excuses. I did pre trip and I conveyed that to them but the tire blew. It is what it is and I’m prepared to eat it if they deem it my fault but I wanted to hear from you guys. Am I doomed to have a preventable on my record or is there any hope of that this will just go down as a non preventable as it was an old trailer and I pretripped. Thanks in advance
Are tire blowouts considered preventable?

Ah, shouldn't be a big deal. Tires blow, I've had new tires blow for no reason. Afety prob just wants to see how you handled it. I wouldn't sweat it.

Do a quick walk around every 4 to 6 hrs I use a ballpeen hammer to check for a different sound from a tire . If it sounds slightly different I check with my gauge .. I’m guessing their newer trailer have the auto inflation system if the light comes on temporarily or full time it usually means a tire is leaking
snowlauncher and buddyd157 Thank this.
