If unions would ever decide to look at performance above seniority, or at least find a good formula to meet the 2 I would gladly look at a union organization. The problem I have with unions is the way that they will defend the laziest most worthless of people just because of tenure. Also, if an organization needs to cut back on labor I don't like being the guy who has been there the shortest amount of time even if that time is a few years and getting cut while the guy who says "I'll get that in a minute" has "worked" there 20 years and keeps his position.
I may not be rolling in the money, but at least what I have I have honestly, not because of some mob style outfit deciding what my labor is worth and bargaining for me.Red Hot Mess and windsmith Thank this. -

THIS & THIS
I have seen some HARD working individuals get canned after Canadian Freightways bought Byers Transport and a GOOD portion of the Byers employees got fire because there have work there not as long.
Yet I still see the same 10 lazy CF guys that sit in the truck making money for doing nothing! -
Maybe there on break or lunch.

Yes , it is hard to get into a union shop when they have so many union members laid off .
