    Owner–Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA)

####. I'm neither of those. Nevermind.

    Oh well.....
Half the stuff they do I don't agree it anyway.

At one time Tennessee was the most corrupt state in America as far as DOT.
OOIDA successfully sued the state and won.

I got into trucking to be independent, not part of a group.

I want to team drive, would I therefore be part of this group thing that was mentioned?

Perhaps you feel as its every man for himself. Well it is to a high degree. Are you going to give me the number to your best freight, and tell the guy to give it to me? Why would you?
I help drivers all I can within my limits. I was running paper, so for me to give someone a half hour of my time was no big deal. My Dad became very ill, and its taken me selling my truck, and two months full time care to get him back on his feet again. I just got a local gig pulling for the Pumpkin, that will put some money in my pocket, but i'll be home everyday, as I can't leave Dad all alone, thus with his needs, and Pumpkins rules, i'm sure I won't be able to give as much to strangers.
The world is chocked full of dickheads, it's up to you if you want to be in that group, it certainly doesn't take much effort. For me it takes no effort to help people, guess its how your wired. It's not just trucking. Trucking I believe requires you to have your act more together than many other professions.
It's definitely one of the last bastions where a regular mo can do his own thing when you have your own rig.

OOIDA picks and chooses their fights. I sought advice and was spoken to in a less than professional manner. So it goes.

You do know they are an insurance company first, everything else second, right?

bstrong3, your previous post wasn't deleted, it was simply moved. You attempted to start a union thread in the Report a BAD Trucking Company Here Forum. Because of the volatile nature of those pro-union vs anti-union discussions, as well as the political turn that they normally take, those topics are moved into the un-moderated Politics Forum.

We moved the thread, alerted you with a notification, and just to be sure that you could find it even if you missed the alert, I sent you a PM with a link to the thread as well as the password into that forum:

    thickskin

    The thread is still there:

    Why no Union

As you can see, your thread wasn't deleted and this one won't be deleted, either. We'll leave this one here just as long as the bickering over unions or politics doesn't derail it. But, at the first sign of that, this thread will need to be merged in with the other one.

    Thanks for understanding.

Place a trucker in solitary confinement,

    in possession of 3 marbles.

Within 24 hours he will manage to

    Break 1
    Lose 1
    and
    Sell 1...........

Might be something I could have agreed with 'at one time'.
    Doesn't change my position.

    For starters NAME is everything...
I only have to read the name to figure out that their position on most things is going to be different from mine.

Current issue. Elogs probably shouldn't be required, but I don't care either way.

The detention thing they been fighting for for years. Get over it. Government should stay out of business period. (Even if it could benefit me). And I work for a Reefer company. So not like I don't get held up a lot.
    Government never fixes anything anyway.

That would come down to more places being like Walmart. Don't come early and don't even think about being late. Not that I'm late a lot but sometimes #### happens.

I know it's not going to be a popular opinion here.
