Are we owner operators really stuck around 2 bucks a mile?

I'd put more faith in a guy with a truck payment, trying to get max value per load over a guy with a paid off truck any day of the week.

My truck is paid off. That means I don't have to bid from a point of desperation. I'm more than happy to drive cross country to my house, empty than haul for a low rate. Guys with massive bills have to haul something, because they're backed into a corner. But that's generalizing, and no two carriers are the same.

Just yesterday the broker offered an extra hundred if I could pick up same day. I still asked for another fifty on top of that, even though the load was already paying almost $7/mile. Now after this load on the board, everything dropped to the regular three ish per mile, so I knew it wasn't going to stay up there long. Asking for another fifty was taking a chance, but I did it anyway, because I don't have to care.

What I mean is, just because equipment is paid off, doesn't mean you drop your rates. You have the luxury of that, but who in their right mind would leave free money on the table?

No, I was too scared of my dad. That guy was a menace when it came to grades.

Politicians are the ones that caused the inflation , then continually lie about how bad it really is , they claim inflation is 7% when in reality it’s close to 50%, so why would it not get brought up ?

then the idiot voters will re elect most of them . So who is really to blame here ?
