I'd put more faith in a guy with a truck payment, trying to get max value per load over a guy with a paid off truck any day of the week.
Are we owner operators really stuck around 2 bucks a mile?

Just yesterday the broker offered an extra hundred if I could pick up same day. I still asked for another fifty on top of that, even though the load was already paying almost $7/mile. Now after this load on the board, everything dropped to the regular three ish per mile, so I knew it wasn't going to stay up there long. Asking for another fifty was taking a chance, but I did it anyway, because I don't have to care.
What I mean is, just because equipment is paid off, doesn't mean you drop your rates. You have the luxury of that, but who in their right mind would leave free money on the table?Sirscrapntruckalot, exhausted379, LoneRanger and 6 others Thank this. -
