my droid through verizon gets 8 - 12 down. 2 - 4 up. when i'm home.

and uuuuuuuuu should be on 4 g in SLC.

The 4S is the 4g capable version (HSPA+, not LTE). 4g will be pretty much standard for future smartphones and 3g will pretty much be rare.
