.... how would they bill the trucking company then for new building steps if the cream of the crop doesnt show up?

I didn't take the time to read all the posts. If no one has mentioned it, the lot needs to be concrete. The constant scrubbing of the tires will chew asphalt up in a tight turning situation.

Speaking of devil's advocate, wouldn't it be easier (on the designer, not the trucker,) to just have trucks back in off the street?

This requires a special endorsement that few drivers have. To get the endorsement they must fork over an additional $45 that they don't need for "living expenses". This too is something few drivers have.

Hmm, a backing endorsement. You may have given the state an idea on how to screw us for even more money.....Ah well, just make more tomorrow...

Kind of like planning for a new business. Figure what you think the costs will be, then double that number. That should get you pretty close to business reality.

One week after the new pattern is established your customer will throw every unused piece of equipment he has, can borrow, or can steal and fill up 90% of the empty space for his convenience. His $8/hr employees will then tell truck drivers "there's plenty of room, what are you talking about? My cousin's pickup had no problem."
