Can I assume that the AIT program does not include the hotel room in the training?
I am looking for a CDL and training course, and I can travel anywhere rather easily. I want to keep my out of pocket expenses to a minimum. Other programs are lengthier, more expensive, and do not seem to cover some of the hotel costs.

So, what a newbie to do but go with a JB or Swift to get some exp. You can't hardly get on with a decent company making a reasonable wage it you don't cut you teeth in somewhere. I've been looking for a company other than the Big Box Guys and it hard to find one.

When I went to AIT I financed it. It cost me 5k, and it did include an apartment that I had to share(the apartment was nothing spectacular). The cash price for the same class is under 4k. However, the guy that they put me up with had his own pad, so I ended up having it to myself. I bought groceries and cooked my own food to save money. Otherwise I would have had to drive 140 miles each day to goto class. I went home on the weekends to hang with the family.

Congrats Rob.
From my experience with schools none of them included hotels, that was just something I had to "sack up" to.
Luman, you got it lucky. I would've ben more than happy to pay for it later than pay for it now. Oh Well... -
Well, I am calculating the actual cost of training, so unless I live in the city in which I am being trained, the non company sponsored schools are going to carry with them the added cost of hotel rooms for 2-3 weeks. Even at only $50 per night this is another $750-$1500, depending on a lot of variables.
So it sounds like the actual cost of the Roadmaster type training programs is higher, at least up front. -
Hello psychocreep. I am looking at AIT and Southwest. You a really up on AIT so how was the job selection process for you? Did you look at employers before you signed on with AIT or did you get it paid for through a contract hire? Any other info is much appreciated
Thanks
