Being on parole for the next 5 years is going to kill his chances of landing any decent job. In any case, no legitimate employer is ever going to trust him with money or valuables... and rightfully so. People are creatures of habit and employers always keep that in mind when hiring. When your record is that bad you have to rely on your parole officer to find a job... and you take anything that comes along.
A few weeks ago I saw a guy at Walmart showing off his ankle bracelet to his friends. You could tell he was kind of proud of it and his friends thought it was "cool". Having a big black ankle bracelet must be the new upcoming fashion "fad". -
Heck people will hire you, they over looked my restraining order at the pet tin zoo.

Everyone comments on how criminals are usually repeat offenders. If a guy gets out of jail, (a place that is warm, dry, and has food) and no one will give him a break, how long do people think he is gonna be broke, cold and hungry before he goes back on purpose. If someone has paid their debt to society, I say give them a chance. If they did something so bad, that lifelong persecution is warranted, then the death penalty should have been used in that case. Seems our "modern liberal compassionate caring" society is way less forgiving than it used to be.

This term "Paid their debt to society" has never made any sense to me.
What exactly has society being paid?
As far as I'm concerned society are the ones paying the debt to keep them fed, clothed with a roof over their head.
Society are the ones paying the subsidies needed to keep their kids in school because there is no bread winner.
I'm all for forgiveness and a 2nd chance.
I have had ex con's working for me.
I have had mixed results as I have with non cons.
I just don't see how being incarcerated is paying a debt.
It is a punishment , it is done to protect society and it is meant to rehabilitate.
It costs society it does not pay society a thing.
Paying a debt to society is just a nonsensical politically correct slogan.V8SuperDog Thanks this. -
I agree. The term "paying a debt to society" should always have parenthesis around it. But it was the only term that somewhat conveyed my meaning.

I agree with the sentiments of your post.
I just think the term nonsensical even though I know to most it just means "did their time".
