This company has had a hard time even before usx took them over. I worked shuttle with them at gm in moraine Ohio and these folks never knew from day to day if they had a rout or a job for that matter. They paid each person diffrent on the same exact routs and if they paid them at all back then. I am not sure whats going on with them now days. Good luck with that company.

You apparently didn't ask enough questions when you called and talked to the recruiter! I wonder what kind of research you did also! The truck question should have been one of the first 5 questions you asked! Pay is first insurance second truck third and on and on!

There is a list in here somewhere but I can't find it after several searches and looking so If someone remembers where the list of questions to ask a recruiter is please post it and also post to it so it comes back to life for these people!

Your personal list of interview questions may grow or shrink as you determine your own requirements, but this checklist is comprehensive enough to give you a good idea of how the company operates. Include the contact person's full name, company's name, phone number, and date on your checklist for future reference. You may even want to ask the company recruiter to sign off on it. Don't count on that happening, but I don't think this would be a problem for anyone who has answered your questions honestly ...do you?

I hated the idea of autos but thay arn't that bad. arnold uses eaton fuller autos wich are actually the 10 speed manual controled buy the engines computer. There is also a manusl mode( paddle shifter on the steering collum) if u fell better shifting it your self. They are only two pedel trannys so getting use to the clutch engagement take a while. The truck I had had a 14 liter detroit 515 but was turned down to 475, it pulled good for a large company freight truck. The truck I took my road test in had a cat that was cut way back. I wouldnt get out of its own way.The thing I hated about their trucks was the lack of an air bag dump valve or a power divider lock. When u drop a trailer with out the dump valve it would jump out from under the trailer actually lifting the rear axle off the ground for 15 to 20 sec. as the air bags self level. With out the power divider lock u cant move when this happens, the wheels in the air just spin, not to mension what happens in the snow and ice or that parking lot full of pot holes u get hung up in. I under stand if someone was never tought how to use either one of these they will tare the truck up bu 15 min. of teaching goes a long way. Alot cheeper than a wrecker cause u droped a wheel in a pot hole and cant get out. Then again these are the same trucks with autos cause they can now hire drivers that cant shift. I like to shift cause I can. If all u ever drove is you honda accord to and from the office the I guess an auto might work 4 u.

Left Arnold a few weeks ago, found a better posstion for me with more home time. They can get you home weekly but your going to loose miles if you go that route. My miles ranged from 1800 to 3000 depending on wether I stayed on them for runs or not. The dispatchers were sub par imho out of atlanta (austell). didnt feel llike they cared much and being willing to do thier shag runs usually only ment that you would get more shag runs rather than something decent later on. Pay was average for these days, could complain but who's going to llisten right? lol.

Never had a problem pulling a hill with my truck but that doesnt mean you wont. Going down hill wasnt bad either as long as you stayed in control insted of letting it run like some super truckers like to do. No APUs, Idle time was generous at 40% but didnt hear anything the couple times I went over either. Paper logs still, use your imagination, but Q-comm for messaging.

Over all wasnt a bad experiance and would go back if I didnt have any other options. Ill keep moving up the ladder though, Id say Arnold is about 2-3 steps up from the bottom, not the greatest but not horrible either.
