Whatever happend to bosses like that? My last job (before trucking) the "old man" handed the buisness off to his son. With in a year he had 10 VP's advising him on just about everything. We installed a new inventory computer system that crashed within a month of being installed, had a horrible launch when we switched over from the old system, and on two occasions wiped out all the billing records because somebody "clicked the wrong button".

I think the guy just liked to drive a nice car and sit in his corner office all day looking important. I think he said two words to me in the entire time I worked there. (which is fine, I'm just a trench grunt, the air in management is to thin for my tastes) But when my father ran a company of similar size back in the 70's-80's he knew every piece of equipment from the company safe to the shipping dock broom.

Alex Robinson was a huge utility contractor in California from the 50's to the 80's...
Alex handed off the business to his son...
Jr. wound up putting the profits up his nose......

Now the only thing left from the biz is the pipeline end known as ARB.......not run by Jr....
