Much of this is common sense.

It is the Carrier that will have to make it work at that level when sam is kicked out of shipper or reciever. PC is necessary at that point.

Keep in mind we had PC when I started back in the 80's and prior to that. It's NOT a problem then and should not be a problem now, with one exception. The Carriers failing to allow PC brought this on themselves.

This was already posted when it was revised in june.

BAck then, PC was stricter and drivers were abusing.

Now it's loosened up. Not much abuse left to be had.

I disagree, this is a move to define it and restrict it by regulation. There is nothing about the carriers bringing it on themselves, no one was really complaining about it to begin with but the FMCSA looked at it and didn't like it being a loophole.

Ok, I'll take your position and concede. However the Carriers get to decide if PC is allowed or not allowed. You would think something set in the Regulations would be allowed, loosen up the freedom of options for truck and trucker. No one wants to be chained to a sandtown alley dock (Baltimore) for three days. It just might be the last time they are seen alive there.

Oh boy! PC is being abused now more than ever before.

With the exception of moving to the NEAREST safe location to park after being kicked of the property, PC must be purely personal in nature.

Here is a PC test - can the same purpose be accomplished in a taxicab?
    • last drop to terminal or home - no
    • moving CMV for maintenance/repair/fueling/washing, etc - no
    • going to PC right at the 14th hour, so you do not go over, and keep driving - no
    • going across town from enroute lodgings to get a steak - yes
    • commuting to and from home/terminal - yes
If the purpose of the move involves repositioning the vehicle or advancing the load - cannot use PC. Must show as DRIVING time.

First off, if you have 2 log books, we will be talking about that.

Second, if you are driving a CMV, unless you qualify for one of a very few approved uses of PC, it needs to be shown as driving time. December 23rd too.

    Great to have you back.

Question: We now use PC to move after US Customs holds us up for an unexpectedly long period (like USDA needing two extra hours to clear a load).

    Cool, or not?
