That pretty much sums up my thoughts about Markk9; he has his comfy little job and doesn't give a #### about anyone else.
You would have been a model British citizen in the 1700's.
Our country is fast heading to that kind of situation again if we don't stop these ######## from destroying our country. They have been taking our rights away a little bit at a time for decades. And it really pisses me off when people like Markk9 are cheering them on.
As EOBR mandate, CSA 2010 loom, on-board technology takes center stage

I got a question about these EOBRs as I've never used one before. Do they have GPS built into them? If they're required on all CMVs, how does it work for the local guys. The ones who drive within the 100 air mile radius & currently not required to have a log book.

Ya know, I ain't no old timer, still wet behind the ears, only been at this 13 years or so, and if ya want my opinion about all the new stuff comin up, see my post elsewhere, but as a lowly company driver, I have been driving with an EOBR, which I affectionately call, 'BIG BROTHER', for nearly a year now.
On the one hand, it makes logging tasks a heck of a lot easier. Little things like, 'what's the closest town to this rest area?', or doing a recap daily are things of the past. Because this company voluntarily installed them, they = their drivers do not have to keep toll receipts, fuel receipts, scale receipts, nor do we have to keep up with miles driven in a state per trip, etc.
On the other hand, I now work on a 70hr/8day week !?! I don't gain any hrs till after the 8th day, rather than 7 like the regs say (I think..who knows these days). The unit still requires driver input for everything except driving time, once the brakes are released and I've rolled a mile or so, I'm automatically on line 3. There are a few things that can be done to fool the system, but they will never be as 'beneficial' as a loose leaf log book.
Frankly, I dont enjoy "BIG BROTHER" knowing my every move. Yea, it MAY cut down on some illegal driving, but as I just heard on the CB today, a 'outlaw' trucker will still do what they have always done to get the job done, and I believe that to be true. As a former 'outlaw' employer I worked for said when I asked when to turn in my log books; What's a log book?? Nuff said. -
I will, I guess always be an (out law trucker) I always have driven when I was rested, and parked when I was tired! regardless of what my logs said.. there is no way I would ever park and go to bed at 4:00 in the after noon roll around in the bunk untill 2:00am then start driving simply because the hos and potential EOBR said I was ok to drive now, even though I never was able to sleep because I shut down at 4:00 in the after noon... It is redicolous! i apologize for ranting...

For those who don't want the EOBR's, have you filed a comment about the proposed law online? Have you contacted the two senators who are sponsoring the bill submitted by Maverick? Have you contacted the carriers who are backing this bill? The clock is ticking. If enough people complain and make their voices heard, we can defeat this before it becomes law. The EOBR legislation will only benefit the larger carriers. This is about limiting competition. The smaller carriers and owner operators will be the losers in this legislation. Remember, some will get rich from this bill. I dare say those who are supporting this are the ones who will reap the dividends.
lilillill Thanks this. -
We, the people, are not angry enough yet. Wait a few more years and the #### will hit the fan.
