I do not think so-Why? Because they have accounts that they backhaul from there delivery points and have to take care of, and they do look at the empty miles that drivers do, and there target is 10% or less empty company wide.
They also want there trucks parked at there yards or maintenance shops.
Now that being said they do have some openings in NY and Pa. and Mass.
I suggest calling the recruiting phone#1-800-837-2241 and talking to them about your questions, in this case it would be the best thing.

Well this week was a surprise!
Started off with the norm for us down here in Fl, Pepsi runs to Columbia SC, then to Lake City SC, for the back haul to Ecru MS, then a Little change up from the norm, after Ecru-deadhead to Ripley pick up a load for Advance NC, then a switch--Advance to Brandon Fl,(we usually run a local load to Richmond drop yard about 500-600 miler) , did not questioned it, ran like hell with it, lets see the one other driver I run with got home for the week Thursday night, and I got home Friday morning, with both of us having the weekend off!
That was 4 days running for the both of us. Monday thru Thursday'ish.
We did this week about 2514 pay miles with 4 drop and hooks and 1 mgt fee, for and est gross of 1092.31 for 4 days of work, yep these weeks when they happen, I look forward too---long week-end-off---yes!
The only thing we could think of, that happened that put us in this work loop was they had no southern drivers, (they were pressed-these 2 loads were delivering the next day), at the time and sent us south early, because it looked like Advance was loaded with loads waiting to go--Ecru was busting at the seems also for loads waiting for delivery. And they did not want to send us southern outpost boys to far north in fear of not being able to get us back--or seeing snow---LOL.
Hey I'll take those weeks when I can----
Info on the pick up at the Nanya plant in Lake City SC.
Here is the guard shack's phone# 843-389-7725
You can park there for a 10 hr break, and you can pick-up anytime your trailer is preloaded, parking is in front of the guard house across from the entrance you go in to pick-up your load and check-in, all you do is park in the yellow striped area, me an another driver have figured this out and have done it, so you do not waste any of your time, if you have time to run there. Also they bring out the paper work to the guard shack at night in case a driver comes in for a drop and hook, of course all of our loads there are live load on the people net but that doe's not mean a thing there, all you have to do is call the guard shack number give them the info, and if they have it, you can roll in and pickup and go out and park and take your 10 hour break, and roll in the morning.
Dispatch has told us that we could not do any of this.
Most of the info on the people net is not correct: Dispatch backhauls have been informed.
On the quality bonus:
I got my paper in just in time to have it shifted to the 401k, but still had to pay Fica taxes-
The bonus started out at 726.07 for 3 quarters and minus 10.53 for Medicaid, then minus 45.02 for social security left 670.52, equals 7.65% out of the check. This was my first full year for it. We get another quarter paid out in April.
April forecasted to be 242.02 minus 7.65%=223.50 if we can get it shifted to the 401k, if not it will be cut down a lot by the other taxes. I would suggest that we get ahold of payroll 4-6 weeks prior to the last week of march 2015.
Well that's a whole lot better than 48%=LOL. I am hoping they will adopt the concept of allowing all Bonus's to be diverted to the 401k program. I will be up there a few weeks (Arcadia WI.), and will visit with all the powers I can, to push it threw to give the drivers this option.
A new truck!
Also this week got a call from Terry in the Arcadia truck shop, saying we have a new Volvo for ya, we need to get you up here to pick it up!
I said are you sure this truck only has 350,000 miles on it, a 2012- she said yep--we do not want to give new hires new trucks, prefer to give them something gently used, dam just got all new drive tire's put on, brakes, new windshield and just got a A service and serviced the APU, ready for winter, all the bugs have been worked out, now I get a new one no miles on it, and I have to shake the bugs out again, LOL--what a problem to have-I'll tell YA!LOL
Profit Sharing
Well this year I qualify for 3/4's of it this year, waiting to see what-that may be, thank God- it goes into the 401k. LOL
Well that's what's going on this week---Last edited: Dec 13, 2014

Nice, glad to hear you getting a new Volvo. Those kenworths aren't near the truck 780s are.

i had a short week as well....only 4 1/2 days out but at 2549 for the week can't complain at all,.....other than being stuck on a Tuesday reset. told them 3 times between Friday and this morning I needed a plan for Monday since I'm carrying 21hrs over into next week and of course, no plan for Monday. guess i'll be pissing around here until noon Monday before I end up getting off the yard......but at least I won't have to drag out the screwed up reset I can get it back like it should be by the end of next week.
pretty uneventful week. advance to Ocala then Cordele to ecru, ecru back to advance by Thursday night. they really annoyed me Thursday. I told them 5am when I left ecru I'd be in advance 1730. thought it a bit odd I didn't get a plan on the way for Friday since I'd only come out on Tuesday. rolled into advance 1730 on the nose. well we don't have anything call back in the morning. never mind there's so many trailers loaded here they've gone into a 5th row for them. I got a little short with her telling her they'd known where I was and when I was going to be there for 12 1/2 hrs and I wasn't planned? really? 12 1/2 hrs and there's more loads here than they've got room for in the loaded line and you don't have a plan for me? what's wrong with this picture? told her I was going home and I'd call in the morning whenever I got up and got around to it. if they couldn't plan me in 12 1/2hrs I wasn't going to be in a hurry to call them back Friday morning. I really like the company but that unorganized cube farm up there really takes a lot away from the whole experience. that format and style of dispatch may have worked very well when it was a smaller company but they really need to take a look at revamping the whole dispatch system to meet the needs of the growing number of trucks they have on the road now.
get in the car and leave and 10 miles down the road the phone rings with a plan lol Atlanta for Friday. went on home and wife was leaving for choir practice so i went on to bed. by the time i got that nap, got woke up to get my midweek bonus hehehe then went back to bed and got up at 0330 to head back down there and go I didn't get much rest Thursday night. end up getting down there to the railyard and no empties there. so, they decide to bobtail me over to the heartless yard for an empty. before I get out of the gate they change their mind and have me bobtail to meet a guy bringing a pepsi load up out of tampa to swap off with him so he can get on home. meet him in Jackson, ga at the J and make it as far back as the rest area at the sc line and then got up this morning and rolled on to Columbia and then home.
wasn't until I got shut down and unloading the truck I realized I'd left my trip notebook on the desk at the guard shack in Columbia. that really sucks.
for those of you not familiar with advance and the roads.......if you get a trip coming out south towards charlotte and find yourself heading out at the wrong time of morning and staring at charlotte at 0600-0900.........an alternative route for you to miss and beat the 30 mile hell that is 77 south from lake norman into charlotte that time of morning:
instead of turning right from 158 at Farmington road to get on 40, keep going straight. stay on 158 though Mocksville. it will turn into 601. take 601 about 13 miles until it turns right onto jake alexander blvd in Salisbury.....once you get about 4 miles out of mocksville your gps will reroute and have you going the right way it'll still try to take you out to 40 until you pass 801....... jake alexander will take you out to 85. then 85 on south. it's 2 lane and some red lights to salisbury and 10 miles extra, but that time of morning much much quicker and well worth it to miss that charlotte parking lot down 77. just be sure to do the 35 and 45 through Mocksville the locals work that stretch hard.......but with the construction on 85 finished and 4-6 lanes inbound now it's an easy ride compared to the alternative. if you have to hit 77 once you get there can't help you but at least you missed 20 miles of it by that point lol.....
I've been that way twice now and listening to the traffic reports on the radio coming into charlotte at 0800 was glad I did. I try to leave early or late enough to miss that parking lot of idiots but last 2 rimes out didn't have the luxury so went the other way and blew right through.Last edited: Dec 13, 2014

I 'll be there Monday dinner time, Columbia, I'll ask and see if they have it, when I get to Advance I'll drop it off at the window lady with the trip packs, if you want.
Got my normal trip assignment-u guessed it-Columbia S.C> Pepsi
Good info- I'll have to try it and pass it on to the other Brandon driver--
I have also gone a little further down I-40 and hooked a left on 321 nice open road and then back track a little, at Columbia SC, some stop and goe's, to get by that jam--

yeah if they have that notebook please grab it.....I need it lol just leave it with cirena or the other chick at the desk and if you tell me you left it with them i'll be sure to get it my next trip in.
lost a set of keys once at the rest area on 65 going into Kentucky.......was about 4 months before I got back through there.......would you believe they had them?
heading through Salisbury is a little quicker than running 321 down through Gastonia and hooking back up down there.......it's a little more due south and direct than heading west out that far and having to come back toward charlotteLast edited: Dec 13, 2014

pm me with what it looks like---so I am not leaving there with an armful of note-books LOL

oh it's just a normal composition book with a silver notebook clip on the top right corner.......with some really bad small handwriting in black ink
clipped open to the last page last trip written in it says Jackson, ga to columbia -
Got it, I'll look for it--
