Where do you get DEF at a May terminal east of Layton? I ran 48 and had to consistently pump DEF in the south and east.

Beats me. Apparently, I am on the "Three Western State" program. I am not allowed to stray far from I-5, and cannot fill my tank anywhere but Brooks. Occasionally, they allow me to buy a pint of fuel elsewhere, but just so I can make it back to Brooks.

Then why make a post that won't help or guide more than 95% of new drivers with May in the proper direction? When I was there and ran 48 state, it wasn't that often that I made it to Layton or Brooks. Spent a couple weeks going from Othello, Wa to Plover, Wi then back to Othello and back to Plover again then sent down south and back to Chicago then towards Denver, then reload in Denver and east bound again, only a couple times did I make it past Denver going west bound. Some people would carry the def jugs with them if safety didn't take them away and would refill them. Most of the time my DM wouldn't authorize a def fill up but would authorize the purchase of a jug with a po# and I would use that then refill it when I finally did get a def fill up. Most places now have def in jugs, along with most auto parts stores if you end up in a area that doesn't have a truck stop.

That seems nice when you're new and learning the ropes. I thought much the same way. It'll get old fast when they give you 3 40 gallon fuel splashes in a day, causing you to burn hours off your clock, and not even get a shower credit out of the deal. I wish this was hyperbole.

your truck must be on crack
rarely need DEF? you dont drive 48 do you?
wont be able to buy def out of jugs?
um... kinda wrong on all accounts there lol
I bought def out of jugs a few times, and had them give me a PO for it. When you are east of layton you pretty much have to demand they give you DEF, because they are so tight on giving you fuel and DEF that they think those trucks run on hopes and dreams. my last month there they ran me out of DEF 3 times... IN A MONTH! i was in the hotel 3 weeks, and they sat there wondering why... the truck just came out of the shop because you guys ran me empty of DEF, how in the world are you going to give me a 2g DEF stop??? once you turn that truck off with less that 18/th of DEF, you're done. degraded engine, all then nice pretty red lights. it was the main reason I left, they didn't care about the truck, and I didn't like working for a company that i had to fight to get what I needed to keep THEIR equipment running.

Also, I don't understand why they would pay for a 2.5 gallon def jug that is double the price at the pump. That makes sense.

Well more than double the price isn't it? Last time I bought it was in Billings, Mt and think it was close to $15 for a jug. Never made sense, but that's how they did it, just like when I called and said I was going to be about 100 miles short on making it to fuel stop in Fargo when the last fuel stop they gave me was in Post Falls, Id and she argued with me about wanting to give me a 7 gallon splash and told her I needed little bit more than that.

Compared to how often the truck needs fuel, the DEF needs are much less. I get DEF maybe once at every five tanks of diesel. If that! Maybe your truck burned more.
Don't get your undies all twisted, it's only a discussion, not a fistfight.
