Sorry, my "newbness" shows itself. I misread it. I am due to meet a trainer on, or around, the 9th, and will be going out with them from there. I signed up for the lower 48. I'm excited and nervous, at the same time.

Anything you would put on the "high priority list" to make sure to bring along?

Make certain that you bring earplugs!

Im looking to send in an application for May, just got my CDL and this company seems like a great place to start. I was wondering if theyre really big about past employment history, I got fired from my last job after being with them for a year (left the property while on the clock) and it was a non trucking job. I applied for Maverick and talked to a recruiter over the phone but when he saw that I was terminated from this job on my employment history that I submitted he said I was not eligible to work for them. Should I just leave this job out of the application, or should I be honest and upfront about it? I just dont want to lie and have it come back to bite me in the butt. Does anyone know if this would affect me in anyway if I try applying for May?

Truckstops are noisy. If it isn't some guy running his engine all night so he can have A/C, then it is a reefer. Reefers will always park right next to you; one on either side, guaranteed!
If you are lucky enough to be at a May yard, there will be some clown backing up right next to your pillow, and the annoying "beep-beep-beep" backup alarm will wake you right up.
Also: your Trainer snores; count on it.

A few things to keep yourself entertained. You will have down time.
Pillow, bottom sheet for a twin/xl and a blanket. It's still warm out there so you really don't need a sleeping bag.
A notebook to write down notes and bits of wisdom.
Pair of work gloves.
Other than those, call your trainer and talk with him before you go out. Ask him about what he wants you to bring and not bring. If he has a fridge, can you bring any food or beverages? Remember to pack things that will fit into a large duffle bag. There is not a lot of room, and chances are likely he has a bunch of his things already on board. -
bring money!
if you're really strapped for cash you can take out an advance on your card, make sure you set it up with a pin number, I forgot to do that when we went out but its easy to do. if your trainer eats out most of the time, they probably dont have a fridge or anything on the truck to prepare foods, so unfortunately that means you will also be eating out more times than not. i still came onto the truck with a bag of easy to make foods that didnt need refrigeration and used the microwave in the truck stops. -
Does May recruit in Arkansas or will they even consider anyone from here. Looking to do national, their lanes seem to run easy west and I am right in the middle.
