Yes, a very good first impression indeed. Here's a question for ya, that I didn't think to ask Leona last we talked :biggrin_25511:. What kinda benefits does May provide for 401K if any? Do they match your contribution?

They match up to 4% I believe, as I elected 6%, to get a total of 10% and I believe it kicks in after 6 months
But, like most all trucking companies, I hope your wife works and has good health insurance!
It's $62(64?)/wk for family with a $1k ded EACH person, and not much paid after that is met lol

Our health insurance is not the best by a long shot. Since they are self insured I guess is the reason why its not better.

Just over half way through school at Western Pacific in Sacramento, and considering May Trucking. I've talked to a recuiter in Oregon and submitted an application, just wondering if they're the right company for me as I also have pre-hire letters from 3 other companies. Would like to stay western regional if possible. Is it true they on;y pay zipcode to zipcode? Forgot to ask the recruiter that question.

They pay practical miles. Most of my trips have a 3% or lower difference in driven miles vs paid miles. Any trip above the 3% I get with my DM to double check my routing they want me to take vs the routed paid miles. Most of the time it gets corrected and it gets to be under 3%.

They do have their western 11 fleet. All dry van, mostly drop/hook. I run refer so I cannot give more on the dry van side, but I occasionally haul a dry van.

Thanks for the quick reply Efon, Thanks.
One concern I have is the apparent lack of any security at the Yolo drop yard. Checked it out on google earth and definitely not a place I'd want to leave a private vehicle for 2-3 weeks at a time. Will need to have wife drop me off and pick me up.

Just finished week 4 of 7 at school, 3 weeks behind the wheel. Class is 4 hr/day and 3 students in the truck, every other day in the yard, so not a lot of miles on the road yet. It's ok as it took a bit to start to get the hang of backing up something that bends in the middle. :biggrin_25523: Dang, those 28' trailers react fast! Have C.O.L.A. and pre-trip down, as well as all endorsements. Does May haul any hazmat?

    Thanks Again.

no you do not need your hazmat with may...... I absolutely refuse to get it.. I didn't have it last time either.. and I rolled with May trucking and Knight transportation.

if you think the 28' turn quick... wait til you get the 53' lol

    good luck with everything

Interesting, I would have thought with the longer wheel base the 53 would react slower. We've pulled a 47, but haven't had the opportunity to try backing it yet.
