Gonna be 12 here tonight in Laramie. Bunk heater just quit though so I will likely be idling to stay warm. Which will take care of the gelling issue. Thanks for the info.

    uhhh..if you think so...
just 12 isn't so bad, but just because it's running doesn't mean not to add Howe's, or the like.
per the handbook, "at 10 degrees fuel additives must be used" 12 is close enough to 10. not to mention 12 in Laramie means -4

Now no bunk heater? Is this finally the motivation needed to do what you should have done a while ago, and demand a different truck?
(BTW, my bunk heater stopped working in March, AGAIN, after they fixed it 3x. That was one of my main complaints in pushing for a new truck before winter hit)

Oh I respectfully requested the new truck. Was informed today that I am on my way to Brooks to drop this thing off and get a new (er) one. Don't know numbers or anything yet though. So it might be your old truck. Who knows. If I add the anti-gel after fueling will it mix well enough to still work? That is if sitting all night.

Oh and about the ideling to keep fuel from gelling. My trainer, who used to be a mechanic on trucks, told me that not all the fuel that is pulled through the lines to the motor is used. Some of it is bypassed and ran back into the tanks to keep the fuel warm. It sounds goofy to me, but I sure as heck don't know any better. But I'm going into the T/S now to get some Howes. The diesel fumes in here are giving me one heck of a headache. Guess I have an exhaust leak also.

If there is an exhaust leak DO NOT RUN YOUR TRUCK ALL NIGHT! You may not wake up
Report it to breakdown immediately! If there is a nearby hotel, they shouldcover it
BTW, you won't get my old truck it's sitting at Cummins in Layton getting EGR work lol

No I'm not running it. I don't think it's a leak, just lots of trucks running and no air movement so it's hanging around; it's in the air at the truck stop. In fact I know it's not a leak in my truck because I did idle in Utah for a while a couple of nights ago with no problem. So I pull out my zero degree sleeping bag, and my long underwear and settle in for the night. I just won't want to get up out of bed in the morning with how cold it will be. Oh well, suck it up.

I've been told that by a number of mechanics, including the guy who runs the diesel mechanics program at our local community college.

I got a great truck luckily its a 2009. Someone will enjoy how well maintained it is and.clean and sanitary inside when I decide to hang it up. Can't get a truck wash and I am done paying out my own pocket for them.

all you do is ask for the PO# and then go to Blue Beacon (every 90? days) or wash it yourself at Layton
