A buddy of mine was with a local only for his training. He got out over the road and had no idea how to plan out his runs and make the best of his time. Laundry, food, showers, Ect. He was late on his first 3 loads. Then they started holding his hand and really watching him do he got mad and left the company.
I agree w/Efon, a week with a local is good, but not the whole time. Having them more comfortable with driving in farmiliar places makes driving in strange places easier.

Quick question, on a normal basis how long does one have to wait for a trainer at the end of orientation? Jolene told me today that there are 6 in my orientation and was just wondering how quick I would get a trainer after the 3rd day.

Was possibly going with May, but they have no female trainers (or only one who was hurt at work so now none) and company policy says female students have to have female trainer.

Sorry you not able to find a female trainer. I have not seen many females in our company. I have seen more with swift and schnieder. Maybe once you get your experience you could be a trainer here?

Does May have a good/large customer base they run loads for? If not, what is the majority of their loads, brokered, etc?
Also, I read somewhere about delivering plants and the pay to unload the trailer was not all that good. Do the guys running all 48 get stuck with these loads? If so, how bad is it, really? -
They have a large customer base both dry and refer.
Nursery loads taken to nurserys are cake. They usually have people there to unload. Nursery loads that you take to home depots or costcos usually are 3-4 stops. Most not on pallets. $75 paid to driver for unload. It seems most nursery loads get dropped in Denver or Layton. They really are not that bad, unless you are really out of shape. -
I picked up a nursery load from layton, took it to denver for a repower, cause I was going on hometime soon and it was going to arkansas. it was going to home depots, 5 of them. someone told me you dont actually unload it, that you just drag them to the back of the trailer and they take it from there.
-
That is considered unloading it. You put it on pallets or racks if the plants are small enough and tailgate it all to the rear. Home depot employees are not allowed in trailers due to their company policy. Although, you sometimes will get some good ones that will help ya out.
