The Pete 387 I was in at the time had a nice shelf up by the top bunk that he could set it on.
The fridge is great. If you go to target.com and look it's the two door Emerson micro fridge.

During training, will the trainer be in the right seat the entire time, or would we spend some of the time running team?

Efon,
I am starting at Sage here in Denver in a few weeks. One of the places that has pre-hired me is May and from what I have read on this site they are one of the carriers that do interest me. Since I prefer not to listen to the recruiters stories and get information right from the drivers who have first hand experience I have a few questions.
Do you pick which side of the company you want to run on or do they assign it to you? When do you find out or when do you indicate your preference? I would prefer the reefer side honestly.
What kind of trucks do they usually assign to rookies?
With you running the reefer side and living in Ft. Collins about how often are you home? Do you decide when or do you let your DM decide when?
With you running reefer and all 48 states do you spend more time inside the western 11 states or more time elsewhere? I am just kinda curious what May's freight lanes are throughout the rest of the US and how often you are away from the west.
When do health bennies start after you are hired?
I look forward to your help and answers. -
Wedge Thanks this.

May will ask you your preference as to what you want to run during orientation. You can switch from refer to dry anytime you wish. Refer will get you to the Denver area more than the dry.
The truck you first get assigned to will most likely be a high mileage truck. Is just the way it goes for new guys. You may get lucky and get a newer truck, but don't hold your breath
You decide how long to wish to stay out. I prefer 4-6 weeks personally. You are given one day per week out up to four days. After four you need to clear it with your DM to stay home longer. I have never had an issue with staying out over four weeks and not getting my day per week. Be on time and plan well and your DM will work with you.
Their main freight lanes are I-5, I-80, I-15, I-84. Those are the roads where you will see a lot of other May drivers. You will find yourself on I-70 and I-40 quite a bit on the refer side. I cannot speak for the dry side since I have never ran the dry.
Benefits kick in after 6 months I believe but I could be wrong on that. It may have changed since I got hired on. -
I have watched your vyou tube stuff. Man you are too funny. I will be trucking real soon. Going to start a trucking Mill soon. Can't afford private drivinig school. Can't wait. Keep it up man keep rolling. -
3. What kind of benefits does May Trucking
Company offer?
MTC offers all Company Drivers the ability to participate in a comprehensive affordable medical, dental, life, and prescription insurance plan, 90 days after hire. In addition retirement (401(k)) participation is offered with a company match after 6 months of employment. -
