Ask A May Trainer

Hi Efon, are you still a trainer with May? I'm thinking about going with them. I've had my interview and sent over my signed release forms.
I got my CDL with a 6 speed. My question is will May be patient with me if I don't know how to double clutch or downshift a 10 or 13 speed yet? Will the trainer work with me, I learn fast!

 

He's moved on, but still here on the boards keepin watch over us newbs lol

you will have to take a skills test and road test in orientation, but we dont use em like 13's, we just stick to the lower gears so its more like an 8 speed if i remember correctly (for the test that is). as long as you keep control of the truck during the tests and dont hit something you should be ok and as long as you make it past orientation your trainer should be ok teaching ya

Careful, its not the same pattern as a 10. Treat it like a 9 speed

 

Yes .. Look at it as a 9 Speed (13 Speed is just a 9 Speed on Steroids).
