Was looking at going with May, but I have a question. Will they let you park your car at the terminal? The nearest terminal to my house is over 100 miles away. It would be a real pain in the ### to have to arrange for a ride every time I take some home time.

I had a bad experience in the trucking industry starting out. I wanted to go a different route but for whatever reason it doesn't work. I may have to go back out on the road. I haven't driven a truck since April will they want me to take a refresher? I hope not cause I need to find something quick and I don't have the money to spend.

Does May run teams and if they do. Will they match you up with someone. If not how do you go about finding a team mate? I went out Solo I got through it but most of the time I was with a trainer we teamed I just wasn't use to being by myself.

not sure on how long without driving you'd need a refresher, tho if it was just april i dont see why you would. May has teams, but no clue how they run of if thats something you'd have to set up yourself.

    A few questions please
What is Mays chain up policy
What does the skills test involve
How many women trainers do they have
It's there a chance in the future I could be a trainer

Can I take my home time any were
Do they want you to double clutch or float

Thank you so much for helping new drivers with our questions

chain up policy.... oh the number of times they sent this message over qualcomm lol.... May chains up in slick conditions. that being said, its going to be up to you either way, you slip and something happens, its always going to be on you whether there was less than an inch on the ground or a foot

skills test.... you can google one of the main terminals and should see the course on satellite view... you go into a C shape with narrowish turns, then come out, straight back, then 45 degree back. its pretty simple, if you went to a decent CDL school, it shoudln't be a problem, you can get out as many times as you like to check behind you when backing into the parking spots.

Last any of us knew, there weren't any female trainers? most of us that are active on here aren't with the company anymore so that might have changed.
Anyone can eventually become a trainer, as long as you aren't tearing up the truck, staying safe... etc... common sense stuff

can you take your hometime anywhere... you mean near a terminal right? because you cant take the truck home so when you go home the truck has to be at a May location, of course flying somewhere is all up to you. They seem to hire in areas sometimes a bit away from terminals but I think they have something worked out with those drivers.

Double clutch, for testing anyway. once you get into your truck, you can do whatever you prefer

So is the c as wide as a round about and the 45 like an alley dock
I looked at it does not look to tight

well, not so much round as a C... it has 3 sides. the 45 is a bit easier than a "normal" alley dock, but like I said, you can get out of the truck as many times as you want its not as much a test for how long it takes, or how many time you get out its to make sure you are doing it safely, they know you just came out of school

how long are the trailers you are using? I did the short trailers at my school and the switch to the long one was something I had to really get use to.

The reason I asked is because the Alley dock at least at my DMV(the test in general) only allowed the short trailers. I like the 90 degree better but most of the backs your going to do are 45 degree.

I think that hurt me being used to the short trailers

I have the pre test down and the driving ( for a student im ok) Im doing ok iv been around round abouts a lot that is why I asked to get an idea. And I shift no grinding but I think my skills need work on but like I said in a week and half I have gotten my permit learned the skills learned the.parts of the.truck and how.to clutch ( iv never driven a standard before) I just need to keep practicing. I want to go.with may because of there training methods and the safety record. That is my # thing safety first . Everything else fall after that for.me and I want a company that feels the.same.way. Thank you for your help and time
