Thanks for responding IP, the recruiter want details of the misdemeanors and i tried to get that info from the court, the court does not have it. So i just give them the explaination from what i remember in the forms she sent me. when i get the background check back, maybe that will give exact dates if those convictions do show up. So what are you saying IP, that the state police criminal check is not as good as a prime criminal check?
I did say you guys thoughts. Not 1 person, more than one person. no offense IP, i do want more answers, but if the other posters response is the same as IP's i guess i am writing this for nothing.
I would leave it the way it is, and give them the details also. Otherwise it may look like you are now trying to cover up something. Besides if Prime background check comes back mty handed, then you are covered and it shows you are being upfront with them. If it comes back with them on it, then you have already told them and again shows them you are being up front with them.
I got you IP, but why would they need to search over the united states when the crimes i committed were in virginia? the only other thing i did outside of va. was get a fender bender in nc. in a parking lot at a consignee. Did not even get a ticket for it. the prime app online i filled out ask for accidents for last 5 years. the only accident i had in 5yrs. was in 2008, the one above in nc. so if they bring me to orientation they will only search for the last 5yrs. right?
Ok guys first IP I don't want to come off as a jerk but it is NCIC (National Crime Information Center). NCIS is the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. However, you are correct Sir that it does go through the FBI. Now then cwc I don't work for Prime as yet but IP and Highway 101 are correct in saying that if you omit ANYTHING they will look at it as you are trying to hide something. I spent 5 years as a Police Officer before coming back in the military, and the court should have the case records on your charges. Unless you were under 18 when they occured they may be off your record. I would include them on your application anyway just to cover your 6. I hope this helps a little bit.
Snowman1, i don't know if you read the last few posts, but i said that the 1st court i went to to get a copy of my record told me that they destroy the misdemeanor that i had because it was 10 years old. the lady even gave me a letter stating that fact.
Sorry I missed that one. I would include it anyway and submit a copy of that letter from the court just so they know that you are not trying to cover something up.
NCIC, NCIS... alphabet soup! It's one of them things!! cwc... it doesn't matter that it was in a state court. They do a nation-wide check on you because people (not necessarily you) do try to hide things. It's incumbent on the carriers to do a thorough background check on prospective employees because transportation is a safety-critical area, because we pull hazardous loads, and because many people who have criminal offenses that would disqualify them from driving DO try to sneak in. Not to mention the folks with bad driving records and fatality accidents that leave things off of their applications to sneak back into the industry. And the FMCSRs require it.
I would be up front about it as well. I've read a couple of posts on here of people getting sent home because they thought it wasn't on their record or even they forgot about a particular charge and they was sent home due for that fact. DS
