I know a lot of folks (including yours truly) who have done very well on the lease side, but it takes discipline. Oh yeah, and no one was "forced" into leasing. I ran 3-years on the company side, and never heard anything about it.

You guys have been very helpful..Ironpony you pretty much hit the nail on the head with what is making me consider Primes school..My first impulse is to go to a private school and save myself the contract to be stuck with the same company for a year.. But there are some pretty good reasons to go to Prime school. Just need to find good trainers over there. I have tore the internet looking for a video or pictures of the inside of one of the lightweight trucks....NOTHING... lol Im starting to wonder if the company is making you guys sign a letter of confidentiality or something lol. I can find a video truck tour of every truck you can imagine except these lightweights. Either way I am probably just over thinking things.. It still crosses my mind that I might have a hard time driving a rig lol, even though I have been driving flat bed tow trucks and straight trucks for #### near 9 years and they feel like toys to me..Im sure I will have no problem..just over thinking things as usual.

Use the search function while you're in the Prime folder, "lightweight" as a keyword should get you to a thread with pictures. We don't use the Pete 386's any longer, but there are some interior pics of a Cascadia. They add storage cabinets above the bunk that wouldn't be there in a condo. It's a midroof so someone at 6' can standup in it.

Ok I see them.. Not that bad I guess...They look like old cabover sleepers to me, and you said they let you pull the passenger seat for the fridge and they dont mind if you bolt a flat screen tv to the wall? Thats doable. Im prior Navy so I have had less lol. Honestly I know its ridiculous to talk about it 3 months before I even start out but I really enjoy training people to be tow truck drivers, so I am pretty sure I will end up training as a truck driver as well, and it seems obvious that trainers would have condo sleepers and still make the good money equal to driving one of those lightweights.

Ok I know I should look this up but I really have no time im strapped on this load. I have a cdl but need more training. I just flew down a hill and I have had training but not much my future trainers was great but the equipment was to large for me so I got a new trainer with equipment that fit but no training. I did my test and somehow passed but I'm not good. Will they take me there and will I get more training iv only drove like 2000 miles and now I'm alone

Yeah, if I remember correctly, you will go on a trainers truck for 30k miles before you get your own truck. But check wit the recruiter to be sure.

well, ive done it now,,,,, filled out the online application, and hit send, I looked at prime's web site inside and out, googled the hell out of it, read a boat load of stuff on here, and decided to give it a shot, I figure even if I wind up with a "lightweight" I can make it up with the extra money. I was apprehensive at first because my last "big company" experience (j b hunt's big pay increase to .37 back in the early '00's, they paid the .37 cents alright, but the mileage was #%%@, no other accessorial pay, and the worst orientation of any company I have worked with) left me with a bad taste in my mouth towards larger carriers for a long time. what impressed me is that prime seems to have made a big investment in their drivers. if I get hired I hope to put in 2-3 years and if the economy hasn't collapsed by then, possibly diving into the lease/owner-operator side.

Wanna-be here, considering Prime, just wondering when I should apply? I'm looking to start this career early next year (january/february), should I apply soon, or wait?

I want to get my CDL permit out of the way before hand, and get some cash saved up, and take care of a few other things before I go.

    Thanks.

Got the call from the recruiter, hoping to hear by the end of the week or sooner if my application is approved, and if it is, then headed to Pittston on the 27th, obviously it's a thanksgiving on the road, but small sacrifice to make so I can get back to making good money again. Funny thing is, I got asked about my criminal history because I put none for that category, and the only thing I could think of was back when I was 16, I got caught ridin an ATV down the road and got a ticket, but other than that, no arrests, dwi's, drugs, or and criminal stuff what so ever, I guess its unusual to have a clean record?
