Chinatown gave you good advice. No one can predict whether you will like it of not. No one can tell if you can run hard and save enough to by a truck. To get a brand new truck and trailer cash price is around $200,000 but you can get a lease for 10k down and 2515 for the tractor and rent a trailer for 580 a month. So for under $20,000 you can be in a new truck. $40,000 gives you both a truck. Do that and you can build a company and have something to leave to your kids.
It takes brains and a focus on your goals. Now the military is good at the focus part. As to brains, if you were in the Air Force chances are you have those. Other branches it would be the luck of the draw.
It is a hard road but success it never easy. I encourage you to try.Spyke Thanks this. -
Thanks for the advice, to everyone. It seems hard to even find a way to get ahead even if you are willing to sacrifice.

Teaming is the best! We love it. The interaction time is limited because one drives and one sleeps. We plan intentional time together.
It's a hygiene issue. We shower everyday. If you can agree on that and set daily mileage goals you will be fine.Spyke Thanks this. -
That cab gets mighty small, mighty quick. Somebody has to sleep in a moving truck - while somebody else is driving. Think about it.

Off topic, but since you mentioned Air Force:
The secretary of the Air Force is pushing to award a Medal of Honor to the first Connecticut native to die in the war in Afghanistan, based on new evidence 14 years after his death, the New York Times reported.
Air Force Sgt. John Chapman, 36, a standout athlete and 1983 graduate of Windsor Locks High School, was killed in combat after military action began in Afghanistan following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
He died on March 4, 2002, while attempting to retrieve the body of a Navy SEAL who had fallen from a helicopter during an attack by al Qaida and Taliban fighters, according to previous Courant reports.
Chapman joined the Air Force in 1985 and later became a combat controller with the 24th Special Tactics Squadron, based at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina.
Chapman had been credited with saving the rest of his team, and a memorial was built for him at an Air Force base in Alabama. He received a citation for the Air Force Cross, the second-highest honor for an airman.4mer trucker, tscottme, sevenmph and 2 others Thank this.
