I got on an assigned route. The load message says I'm going to be paid 185 miles less than what the actual driving distance is. I'm following the exact same route as the load message.

I understand some loads might pay 20-40 miles less than actual, because of zip code miles, but 185 miles! That's just ridiculous.

Is there anything I can do if the company doesn't pay the difference?

Quit? Refuse? What are the two points? Does the assigned routing make sense? Is it going around toll road segments?

Is it possible it’s just an issue that wasn’t corrected prior sending to you? One that would or will be corrected upon reminder to the appropriate party?

    Wargames Thanks this.

For educational purposes, would you mind saying what company you work for?

The driver’s agenda: Get paid. Get home safely.

In your case, I would bring up the operating contract, where you agreed to work for a certain rate. But before this, I would have my next gig lined up. I would like to hear an explanation of their math.

    Wargames and stwik Thank this.

Stop 185 miles short and message that you can’t find the receiver

You are the eyes and ears, if there is a better legal and safe route contact your dispatcher and discuss it with them so they may be informed. They only sitting in a office staring at a computer screen so they only know what that tells them. If the load is a couple thousand miles that is normal, or you are slaving for the wrong company.

I have a feeling my reply is going to ruffle some feathers. The primary reason you are having to deal with this is because there are 1000 drivers ready to take those loads and some for even less then you are paid. It sucks but it is what it is. When you boil all the fat off the bone it comes down to two choices. Run it and be quiet or quit.

Or tell it to the people who can fix it, setting it out on the web for everyone to see will not fix it if it is a problem.

The problem with this is as long as there are people that will drive for peanuts it is almost impossible to fix it. Listen I am not trying to be a cynic. I wish to god trucking was not this way. However over the last 20 years I have almost beat my head bloody trying to fix this. if you feel that you can, great! because it will make you a better man then I ever was.
