Hey Tomcat, thanks for the kind words I really appreciate it, and happy Easter to you as well. I hear ya loud and clear on the last part, wherever I end up I'm going to just stick it out regardless of the situation to pad the resume.

Ok, so I was doing a little pondering this morning and it got me thinking. Just for the sake of having a "plan b" in case no one bites locally, who would you guys recommend I start applying to for regional work? Or am I destined for bottom feeders due to me not having any current OTR experience? Things of concern for me are as follows:

    1. Home time (preferably weekly)
    2. Pay (at least decent CPM)
    3. Abbreviated training (I don't need to be taught to drive, just logistics such as qualcom, etc, unless I go flat bed and theres nothing wrong with additional securment training.)
    4. I'd "prefer" flat bed, as I think it'd be interesting to get into heavy hauling at some point in the future.
    5. Decent equipment

How could any of this happen; I was assured there is a driver shortage. Why would any driver have a hard time finding a job with a driver shortage? Why with the shortage, experience, demeanor, appearance, job history, or job stability, should have no effect on a driver's prospects.

ps: If you are super-confident in your backing skills under "unsurmountable" circumstances, have you ever considered the Werner / SNI / etc.... dollar store routes? It's quite physical, pays rather well, and is very tortuous to one's backing skills. Personally, I've never done one. They'd hire you "Johnny off the block" if you wanted to go that route, though.
Just an idea I'm kicking out there.
Did you look at LineHaul like ODFL /Six-String Rhythm ? .... GFS like @Mike2633 ? @Bob Dobalina ... what do you think about LTL for Dave???

Best wishes; just thinking for ya again, out loud!!

    TheyCallMeDave and Mike2633 Thank this.
