Your intentions for safety first are great - but ALL of these Otr outfits spout the safety first crap.
You have to be somewhat of an ahole sometimes and don't let them walk over you.

Essentially you're the captain of a ship... Not some disc jockey sitting in a warm office... If they don't like it they can get their behind up out of their chair and come on out there and drive the truck

Being routed to a lane that is likely to be shut down for snow removal isn't as much a safety concern as a logistical concern. As a professional truck driver, driving inthe snow is just part of your professional expertise. I could see the argument for re-routing to save time but not in this case for safety, otherwise every other company out there would have re-routed their trucks around Snoqualmie.

Snoqualmie (I-90) gets shut down every other day this time of the year for avalanche control. The shut down usually last only a couple of hours; sometimes just an hour and rarely more than 5. Often the state patrol will route traffic out of the area to keep it from piling up an blocking the road. There is nothing unsafe about it. It is one of the safest ways over the Cascade Range. So I don't know why the OP is complaining about safety.

White pass (WA 12) is probably the most unsafe way over the Cascades. It is currently washed away in two places and down to one lane of signaled traffic. It is supposed to be local traffic only but I don't know if the state patrol is currently turning trucks around. At 1500ft higher and deeper in the Casades if you think Snoqualmie is unsafe you best not try white. More snow, and twisty two lane road with little to no guard rail.

The safest way across the country would be to go down to Portland and take 84 to 80. That would add about 180 miles to the trip if you just couldn't wait for Snoqualmie to clear.

Why any company would route someone down to Medford and two lane it out to Reno with 600 extra miles is beyond me. That is unless somebody wanted to stop at home in Reno. Certainly, does not sound like the 'safe way' to go.

White Pass was wide open to trucks. I took it after Snoqualmie was closed all day last Thursday.

White was pretty clear, just wet in spots. It was bumper to bumper due to Snoqualmie being closed.
