They are apparently citing people for this stuff. So again, if they’re going to be citing people, they need to make sure their laws are fair by telling us what exactly is “light and high-profile” vehicles. This is about fair laws and not about I need them to tell me when it’s safe or unsafe to drive. And, yes, if you cause an accident where you are at fault, then you have to pay for the damages caused, and this applies to all accidents, not just wind-related.

24,000 and less in the box or on the deck.

I got it now. Response to post 10 confused me. All your asking for is to not be cited if you are pulled over because of vague laws. The thread is kind of morphed into what happens if you turn over in high wind. Lol. I'm better now.

Over here on the East coast we had a five hour stretch of severe thunderstorms followed by a brisk 50 to 60 mph west wind yesterday morning. The local boys were putting them to sleep in the ditch all over hell and back. The old boys don't see much wind here and consequently pay it exactly zero mind until they are layed over looking all foolish and blocking the interstate. Climb right out of the passenger side door with a safety vest on wondering what happened.

Well, then I hope you have Lawyers better then Trumps. Two years ago, 20' ISO tanktainer, going from Denver to Casper, 45,500 of liquid inside, loaded on a 3 axle chassis, passing Bordeaux Rd gust of wind pushed me on to the shoulder. There were 3 dozen trucks blown over between Cheyenne and Wheatland, all had at least some cargo inside.

When I see the Wyoming tanker drivers parking because of wind, then it's past time to park.

The Walmart trucks that run 80 and 25 in Wyoming all used to carry water bladders. At the last store, before loading they would fill the bladders, IIRC each one carried 250 gallons, they would put 3 of them in there, as well as a couple of concrete blocks. When the trucks left loaded, the concrete blocks were on the nose and the bladders folded on top.

Were you cited? Also, tanker drivers should be much more cautious as sudden movements of the equipment can make you lose control of the equipment. I’ve hauled a few loads requiring a tanker endorsement. The difference is very noticeably.
