Oh man, what a pain that sounds like.
Lol! I hope you didn't shake it out of them! :biggrin_25525:

I'm pulling a Caterpiller that will give me 1600 miles O.D. Which will make up for the short miles. At least emotionally ha ha.

    You Likey?

I'd like to talk to you re: ATS and St. CLoud school. I'm in Sioux Falls SD and my sons live in West Bloomington. I'm approved to start school with Midwest Coast in Sioux Falls in 10 days but am leary of this whole company school thing. Plus I like what I'm hearing about ATS ownership program. Thanks a bunch.

I wonder if all you folks realize how absolutely invaluable your forums are to those of just researching how and where to get into this business.

The "safety" meeting is in Gary on Saturday. I found out the other day that my FM is going to be there as well. At first I had that "oh #####" feeling. As it is the FM who "lets go" drivers when they arent wanted/needed anymore. But it turns out that she had the most drivers w/accidents(2) for the quarter so she has to go. Dont really know what the purpose is but some been counter thought it a good idea. If I do get canned I will be pizzed, tho not for the reason you may think. You see, the load I pick up on Monday in Houston is going to Spiritwood,ND(basically Jamestown) for a Thursday delivery. I am then to head down to Gary. Well my plan is to swing by my house on Thursday night then finish off the trip on Friday. Plenty of time for the meeting thingy. So if I get there and THEN get told to turn in my truck I wont be happy! I could of cleaned out the truck AND dropped it off in Cloud an hour away, instead of my wife having to drive my gas guzzling F350 down to Gary. Like I said before, i'm not gonna worry about it. There are still companies hiring out there and things do happen for a reason(I just usually cant figure it out!)Greg, i'll check to see if my email notification still has your address if not just pm a moderator and have them forward it to my. Ill answer all I can.

That's cool. Lemme know how it goes. I was looking at ATS when I decided on SNI, but I would still like to do Heavy Haul sometime down the road and put another driver in this truck to stay on with SNI.

Glad ta hear SNI is working out for you! Always nice to hear of companies doing what they say! Jym, yes I like! Well boys and girls, I added up my miles for the past month, and i'm down some. Ended up with about 8500, had been running 10-11000. When I got this load, my FM said there was nothing in the CA or CO area. Guess thats why I deadheaded 1122 miles to Houston! REEEEEAAAAALLLLYYYY glad i'm not eating the fuel. Even if I did get 8mpg out here! Supposed to get a load in the port of Houston tom. am, but I still need ATS to send the port document. I sure hope they have it ready, if I dont get out of Houston before noon i'll run right into DFW evening helzzz, uh traffic.:biggrin_2552:

    Good 2 here from ya,

Wow, that is serious deadhead! The most i have done is like 400 to get out of Texas. Are L/O forced into taking that much DH?

I have found another heavy haul company competing for my attention. Keen Transport out of Carlisle PA. Talked to a driver at the Petro of I-81 in PA and he gave me his card. Haven't heard anything about them. I asked him what he thought about ATS. essentially he said ATS is a head ache and that Keen has lots of drivers that have come from there.

But he could be blowing smoke up my you know what. Or he could be some kind of recruter. Or just some truck driver! :biggrin_25525:

Jym, no L/O's are able to choose their loads,so the deadhead is up to them. Of course they may take more than they want to get to a better area. I have heard good things about Keen also. I've also been told that ATS owns at least some of Keen. This came from a Keen driver, take it for what its worth. I got loaded ok at the port. This is not a fun load. its just a bunch of steel beems, however I have the last of the loads. Therefore I got all the "left overs". They didnt stack well even though they are bunched and secured in groups. i had them take one pile off the top. Even now the one stack, much longer than the others, is sitting at a slope into the trailer. The bundle is flat but the pieces are odd shaped. I put on 5 3/8ths chains just to feel safe myself, the load doesnt require that at all. The angled piece keeps "walking" in to the center of the trailer. So I have re-positioned the chains 2x so far. The stuff isnt coming off, I just hate when things move even a little! Sitting in a rest stop for the night, just about an hour south of Fargo. I should have pushed a bit farther but i'm shot! i pushed hard after the load and had to deal with DFW afternoon traffic. So needless to say that added hours to the day. Ill delive in the am, then start heading home. I need to get to the bank to get some papers signed and notorized. Dang finance companies dont make it easy! They are trying to get me a load heading down towards or at least through Gary. I was re-assured that I didnt have anything to worry about, its all just a formality.(ie. insurance, I assume).
