"with the right document" what other documents are there other than log sheets? I run on E-Logs but I fill out an inspection report everyday I am on-duty and driving. Would they work? I don't fill one out if I don't work that day but i still am otr.
Thanks

The term was "proper documentation." And yes, that would be your logs. You would also be required to show how much was actually paid to you as "per diem", for your tax preparer to file your returns properly. aka "Non taxable income"
If you stay out 300 days a year. Does it come close to what you would be able to get on a return had you not accepted company paid "per diem"?
It won't be 100%. But it's not supposed to be. -
I just don't want drivers to go through the same (stuff)i had to go through. It's only fair to warn them. I know, I would have given my right arm to be warned about the bad company I drove for-I never would have left the good company, because the difference was night and day.

This forum is the best thing to hit the industry since air conditioning..Maybe instead of these companies punishing people for telling the facts they should change the way they treat drivers... Just saying

I'm a noob here, and I agree. They claim there is a shortage of drivers now? Who wants to be lied to, cheated, left in a truck-stop for 2 days four hours from home, etc., etc.. I have been a driver for 24 years with a perfect safety record and I'm about fed-up with the BS! I have had to work for myself for the past year locally because my daughter was in a serious car accident and I couldn't leave home. Now I'm un-employable!? Just because I don't have any recent OTR experience, but have continued to operate class 8 trucks locally. They would rather hire a kid out of a school with 2 weeks experience, say "You're a Truckdriver!" and cheat and lie to them. Then hope they don't kill a family of six on a mountain pass! This industry needs some serious changes for the good of everyone involved in it!

I have heard the same story about there being a shortage, however, try to find a local route driver job and you quickly find that there are more than a dozen highly qualified driver applicants, as well as many others that are not as qualified, for every local job that gets posted.
I interviewed for a local job with a medium size, multi location company this afternoon and I saw for myself 4 other drivers waiting to be interviewed and the 6" high stack of completed applications for this one job...
I believe the shortage is in OTR and regional areas only... at least around C'bus OH. -
Do not work for this company you are better off staying at home they will cost you money and upset your entire homelife very unpro
Burndog Thanks this. -
well if they have time to read all these post why dont they try to change and make us happy

Maybe the people reading the forum are not the companies, but instead, are the recruiters that get paid for getting drivers into orientation. I would find it hard to believe they really care about driver retention; at least not past a certain point - the point they stop getting paid for the driver. But then again, why would they care?
