I appreciate what you are trying to do and believe you have the correct approach. You won't be able to cover every situation and most will fall into the ones you are targeting.

You are correct that those being paid on net % can calculate, or will already have, the number they are paid on.

 

Take a couple of business courses. Unless you want to be a company driver chasing miles all of your trucking career...
