Do you drive 1000 miles within Utah at 80mph every week? No? Well, Prime isn't just driving around Utah where it's 80mph all day and night either. So your figure is a bit misleading.
But even if we were, no one is getting "shorted", because there's a fuel bonus which makes up for the concerns about lower speeds.
Attention interested persons for prime.

What kind of mpg do you have to get to qualify for the fuel bonus...?
And how much is the bonus again..? -
It can range anywhere from an extra 1 cpm (for 7.5 mpg) up to an additional 7 cpm (for hitting 10).
Average for the trucks on my board is around 8.3, which is about an extra 3.5 cpm. The newer evo's are able to hit those numbers pretty easily even without slowing up too much.darthanubis and DocMarten Thank this. -
How hard would It be to gross $1500 per week consistently? 3488 miles per week solo might be kinda difficult unless running from LA to Boston without many stops.
-
I ran 2 trips per month to California at .50 cents per mile for a monthly gross of $6000.00....
Every month my pay was consistent, and to drop my pay to .43 cents per mile, I would need to run an extra 550 miles a week to make up the difference, and that might be difficult @ 65 mph with computer logs. -
$1500 a week is probably out of reach here, at least for an OTR company driver. I've been here almost 3 years, my cpm is 47.5 base + fuel bonus which is typically around 3 cpm so roughly an average of 50.5 cpm. My average gross per week this year for all weeks is $1236.59 to this point.darthanubis and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

Precisely why I never went to work for that company. ..
-
How often do you reach that .7cpm range for hitting 10mpg? I'm guessing maybe only in the early spring were no APU or Idle time is required????
-
I've never hit it personally. I've seen it done once in a blue moon by somebody when they post the top 10 mpg's on my fleet. But it is certainly rare.
I've been over 9 a handful of times, when everything lines up perfectly but then again I don't always do the 58 mph thing either. I'm usually mid 8's. That's of course during the fair weather months.darthanubis Thanks this. -
Point is, Prime ain't that bad for someone starting out, needing their CDL, and wanting to get paid a decent starting wage. And for some drivers, they're happy with Prime being the only company they'll work for and stay with.
There may be better options out there in terms of pay, but they might not have other benefits (like the training). Or the equipment may not be as good. Or a host of other factors.
The trucks aren't the fastest, but so what if the pay helps make up for some of that?
At any rate, those things are a far cry from "Prime is a horrible company who treats their drivers poorly and pays terribly" which was the gist of this thread. That assertion has been shown to be patently false.mosstrap, redoctober83, Chucktshoes and 3 others Thank this.
