Not to be a smart###. But you need to get yourself up to speed...and fast. Your job is on the line TODAY. Even though it doesn't come into full effect until September.

Every inspection you have had within the past 3 years will become part of your sis score. And as such, will be on your DAC report for ALL companies to see.

You do NOT have to be placed out of service or fined for points to accumulate. In the past or future.

Squeaky clean, can become ineligible for hire...in 2 weeks. Educate yourself on the CSA.

Your actual driving record has little to do with CSA...in the beginning. Also keep in mind, your CSA score is not affected by your local Sheriff or Police unless they are DOT certified. (with certain exceptions)

All this means is, you and your carrier will be getting your ### inspected to death as the DOT builds a data base. If your company has a high SafeStat score...even more so.

SafeStat will no longer exist once CSA starts (so they say). All company info will become part of CSA.

ONE clearance light is worth 3 points...times 3 for the first 6 months.

CSA will go back 10 years on companies, 3 years on drivers. ANY DOT inspection will be entered into your data file, which will remain on your record for 3 years from date of issue. You now have 2 "scoring" sides to your CDL. Your actual driving record, and your CSA/Sis score.

Sis scores are based on a sliding scale. A simple 3 point violation becomes 9 points for the first 6 months, then is reduced to 6 points for a period...then it's 3 points for the remaining 12 months of the 3 year period.

This all means, the only time you actually have a 3 point score (from that tail light violation)....is the last 12 months of a 3 year period.

Going back 3 years on ALL drivers...means many drivers will point out on DAY ONE.

10 years on companies, will force the doors shut on DAY ONE.

The company I drive for, has decided (along with their insurance company) a score of 90 makes a driver ineligible for hire/work. A simple tail light/marker light violation a week for 10 weeks can get me fired.

BOTTOM LINE: I will not move equipment which is not 100%. Likewise, my safety department is scared out of their minds. Even upper management admits they may lose up to 20% of their senior (read seniority) drivers.

I am as you...doubtful. But the information comes from the same industry sources as the other information.

But this has accomplished ONE thing I like...NO MORE forced dispatch on loads that are questionable. Many/Most of my loads have an open window of delivery now. I always get a 10 break...after my 11/14.

Not enough. Some as low as $200 a week while in training.

A first year driver can expect $35K - $60K depending on the company.
