For the record, if you get hired on a company, even Werner, then quit and you have less then 6 months exp you might as well take out your cdl and cut it up. Good luck finding another job right now with a lack of expierence and a quit on your record for so short a time.
Attention wannabes considering werner

I didn't say companies won't hire felons. I'm simply taking issue with anyone who attempts to make it seem like every other guy or gal behind behind the wheel of a semi murdered someone or stole a car. I don't buy it.
Next, you say, "Well, there are a lot of things other than murder that are felonies." That's true. Did you know it's a felony to carry any medicine on your person that is in an incorrectly labeled container? Not something that should keep someone from getting a CDL though, is it?
But that goes back to my original point. When wetsand says we're doing the same job as the felon next to us, he's painting with a broad brush. Naturally people hear felon and think "bad person". I don't think there's anything wrong with companies looking into situations and giving people a second chance. And I don't think they're worth less or that they devalue the profession as a whole.
Hell, I've worked in the banking industry for years, an industry that makes felons. -
The opposite is happening, Swift has put a freeze on experienced drivers and has limited the number of students going through the school. Some of the schools are not even taking students right now. Drivers are not leaving because jobs are scarce. Better to have job then no job. Turnover is way down.luvtheroad Thanks this.

About convicted felons, if one has ever been around a felon, it makes you uneasy knowing that that person is capable of either hurting a person in a real bad way or has take advantage of someone when the situation arose. If you left a blank check next to a convicted felon will you feel comfortable about it knowing the he or she will give it back, or do you think it's running through his or her mind that this is a great opportunity? That's what separates a felon from someone with misdemeanors. A felon will commit a crime regardless of what kind of damage it does to another person. They have thought about it and just couldn't care less about you as an individual or what kind of harm the crime creates. What it this person did five years for aggravated assault twelve years ago? Do you want to get into an argument with them? I know I would think twice about it.
