I sold my truck and trailer (2016 heavy spec Cascadia and 2014 Doepker super-b hoppers) at Ritchie Brothers Saskatoon in early December. I was hoping to get $85,000 for both, got $113,000. Less commissions =$99,940 net to me. I was happy.
I left them copies of my work orders and oil samples, they scanned the papers and included that info as a pdf on the listing in their website so buyers could preview it.
I retired since then, still haven’t missed it.Rideandrepair, Magoo1968, bzinger and 4 others Thank this. -
I've hauled a lot of equipment into auctions, mainly Georgia and the southeast. Got to know the owners well. Was asking about some equipment in a up coming sale , all they would say is "everything in the sale is here for a reason, mostly because it's a problem child.Badmon, Rideandrepair, omardten and 5 others Thank this.

Auctions,,pfft, let me tell you MY experience with auctions. I worked for a trencher dealer years ago, the boss one day tells me, "come to work in regular clothes"( not uniform), I had NO idea, but the other guys there did. We're going to an auction, you ( me) are going to bid on these machines until I take my glasses off",,,WHAT? Well, he WAS the boss, and I was his SHILL!! I couldn't believe he would do that, but apparently, it's well known, except to me, to drive prices up. I quit shortly after, and never went to an auction again. Besides, it's also well known, an auction is the last chance of a sale of a POS before it gets scrapped.
Badmon, Rideandrepair, omardten and 3 others Thank this. -

No different than getting a friend to drive it up. Hell it's no different than putting a reserve on it.Rideandrepair, D.Tibbitt and Last Call Thank this.

Looked at trailers at a few sales lately. New prices are way up with long deliveries. Now previously enjoyed trailer prices are just as crazy as used trucks. I bought 2 sets of b-trains year before last. I paid more for them than I paid each for the first 4 new trucks I ever bought. I bought my first new truck in ‘80 and paid $68k for it, both those trailer sets were over $96k.Rideandrepair, Magoo1968, Last Call and 1 other person Thank this.
